Hill Academy

Joyful Discovery, Relational Education

A Charlotte Mason Inspired Learning Community

Our Mission

Our mission is to partner with families in providing their children with a full and excellent education in a Christ-centered environment. One that fosters the joy of discovery; the love of learning; the love of God, their neighbor, and themselves.

Hill Academy offers a blend of home and community learning, following a hybrid education model inspired by the Charlotte Mason philosophy.

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Psalm 16:11

What Hill Academy Provides

Christ-Centered Learning

Our Christian faith is the foundation of Hill Academy. Curriculum and learning opportunities will reinforce this basic building block.

Flexible Schedule

The hybrid model offers flexibility with two or three days of learning at Hill Academy and continued learning at your home the remaining days of the week.

Partnership and Support

We affirm the parents’ role as the primary influence in their children’s lives. Therefore, Hill Academy functions as an extension of your home.

“We hold that all education is divine, that every good gift of knowledge and insight comes from above.”
Charlotte Mason

What Hill Academy parents and students have to say:

★★★★★

Lisa is such a gifted teacher! She is able to move her students thoughtfully and thoroughly through rich academic content with an eye trained on making it relevant and practical in every day life. My sons were able to read the stories of people who look like them, have meaningful conversations , and grew tremendously in knowledge and spiritual depth under her tutelage.”

★★★★★

Mrs. Hill has had one of the most positive impacts on my life. She always brings life lessons…ones that I will hold on to forever. If ever I have something wrong (in my school work), she doesn’t make me feel stupid. She helps things make more sense. I can honestly say I have never liked a teacher like I do Mrs. Hill. She is definitely a teacher I would recommend to anyone.

★★★★★

I have had the opportunity – and pleasure – of schooling alongside   Lisa Hill for over thirteen years. She is creative and thoughtful in her approach to education. She considers the individuality of each child while bringing life, love, and vivid color to the sometimes mundane and monochrome task of learning. It has been a blessing having her as part of our family’s home-education journey.

How do you assess the students?

Hill Academy does not grade students in a traditional sense. Because of our small teacher-to-student ratio, teachers have the benefit of knowing each child well and can monitor progress and set expectations that are appropriate for each individual student. At the end of each term, teachers will administer comprehensive exams to evaluate students’ broad understanding. These exams may be oral or written, depending on the needs of the students and the curricular content. These exams are then reviewed by teachers and shared with parents. Grading for high school students will be different than other grade levels.

How do I enroll my child?

Your first step is to complete the application and pay the (non-refundable) application fee.
